Quercus phellos

Willow Oak

Masonic Village Arboretum, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown PA (near formal gardens)

Len Eiserer

With a circumference at breast height of 16 feet, this native tree is a close second to the largest Willow Oak listed at Champion Trees of Penn- sylvania, pabigtrees.com (16 feet 6 inches), and larger than the six other Willow Oaks listed there.

This amazing species is a favorite of conservation scientists and landscape designers because of its rapid growth, its hardiness, its prolific production of acorns (for wildlife), its ability to toler- ate both shade and sun, its attractive light green leaf color, and its full crown.
