Quercus phellos

Willow Oak

Masonic Village Arboretum, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown PA (near formal gardens)

Len Eiserer

With a circumference at breast height of 16 feet, this native tree is a close second to the largest Willow Oak listed at pabigtrees.com (16 feet 6 inches), and larger than the six other Willow Oaks listed there.

This amazing species is a favorite of conservation scientists and landscape designers because of its rapid growth, its hardiness, its prolific production of acorns (for wildlife), its ability to tolerate both shade and sun, its attractive light green leaf color, and its full crown.
