This is a spectacular example of a weeping tree. “Every Weeping Norway Spruce has its own personality,” garden association Bower & Branch has observed. “If Pendula is un- trained, it develops a weird, wacky and wonderful free-form shape.”
With regard to the specimen at Masonic Village, truer words were never spoken. In the first photo, the tree resembles, of all things, an octopus!
This amazing species (Norway Spruce) was the first conifer species to have its genome sequenced.
