Quarryville Elementary School,  211 South Hess Street, Quarryville PA (behind the school)

Planted in 1999, this tree is a certified direct descendant of a Tulip Tree planted by George Washington at Mount Vernon VA in 1785.  Still alive in 2019, the Mt. Vernon tree is thus 234+ years old.

This amazing species is the tallest hardwood in eastern North America, with a maximum known height of about 190 feet.
