Punxsutawney has its Phil but Lancaster County has Octoraro Orphie to predict how many more weeks of winter remain. For 109 years Orphie — enabled by members of Quarryville’s Slumbering Groundhog Lodge — has appeared on Groundhog Day to say whether an early spring approaches or instead six more weeks of winter remain. This tree sculpture, off the second hole at Tanglewood, is a fine likeness.
