Barb Gerow has created a dozen miniature gardens on her property and these gardens include numerous miniature trees.
One example is Jean’s Dilly Spruce (Picea glauca ‘Jean’s Dilly’) which — as a dwarf form of the Dwarf Alberta Spruce —grows as little as 1/2 the rate of a normal Dwarf Alberta.
Another is the miniature Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia ‘Hokkaido’) which attains a height of only 2 feet after 25 years. Other small trees in the collection include pines, hemlock and cedar.
