This bright gold variety of Nordmann Fir grows broader than high and tends to burn in full sun. The cultivar — which originated as a seedling in The Netherlands in 1961 (the species itself is native to the mountains of Turkey, Russia and Georgia) — is actually more striking in winter than summer, when it may be a soft green.
The plant adds only a few inches of height per year and maxes out at 3 to 4.5 feet.
This amazing species is virtually pest and disease free, and is also rarely browsed by deer.
