Growing atop the bank of a small stream, this is one of only two Bald Cypress in Lancaster County known to have the famous “knees” (the other being at Conestoga House & Gardens; see that entry for comments on the knees). This 50-60 foot cypress was planted around 1990.
This amazing species is the only tree in the world that, under the right conditions, grows the strange structures that we call “knees.”
