Chamaecyparis pisifera
False Cypress, Sawara Cypress
118 North Water Street, Lancaster PA
Len Eiserer
Two of these lollipop topiaries (plants clipped into ornamental shapes) decor- ate the entrance of Miesse Candies. The glaucous bluish-green leaves of these slow-glowing plants are in the juvenile, needle-like form that some False Cy- press show. (Identification not 100%.)
This amazing species provides so many odd-looking cultivars that the 60-foot natural form would be unrecognizable to most horticulturists today. The culti- vars are the only selections carried in the nursery trade.
